well the other week i went to a house clearance and found a hoover 800 from 1934 the lady of the house who was in her 80s said it was her mothers and she remembered her mother useing as a child . And her mother said to her she was not play with it as a child ,as it was very expensive , the lady of the house said it has not been used since the 1950s and still had the round pin plugs on it , and has been in the cuboard ever since then .she said she had not the heart to throw it away as it was her mothers , and recals mum useing dureing the war period.
She told me i doubt very much it would work , well i put a modern plug on it made sure their were no obstructions plugged it in and bing started up and cant belive it but its actually better than my dyson the head lamp bulb still working the older lady had a smile on her face .
I now intend to have it serviced and keep this as an art deco theme in my house.needless to say it wont be my daily hoover as i want to preserve its future

I have an Airway Sanitizor with attachments that was purchased in 1951-53 by my father. It still works. It's been in storage for decades. If anyone is interested, make me an offer.

Helped clean out and repair a 92 year old WWII vets home this weekend. He was an Electrolux salesman and repairman for MANY years. As the volunteers tossed out the stuff, I began to realize these vacs were his life. Instead of letting it go to the landfill, I began putting the stuff on my trailer. Would you be interested? Need pics?

I can remember the first vacuum cleaner we had at home was the low cylindrical type much like the one I can see in the top right hand corner of this web page as I type. I don't remember the makers name but I was fascinated by the logo it carried which was an eagle or other bird of prey. Can anyone tell me the maker of this model?

I have a Hoover Commander vacuum cleaner I'm interested in selling. I'm not sure of the year, but my parents were married in 1939 and I see in some research I've done that this style was made from 1939 to the mid-1950s. I'd like someone who collects vintage vacuums to have this.
